OUR FAVOURITE SWEATER-WEATHER FRAGRANCES FOR WINTER

While there are few things that we want more during the winter months than a soothing glass (or three) of wine, an enormous soaking tub to indulge in a hot bubble bath, or a cuddled-up movie night at home, there’s something to be said about oozing allure and seduction with long layers, dark colours and of course, an all-encompassing fragrance. While bright citrus and cheery florals reign supreme during summertime, winter is all about sultry, exquisite and delectable notes that leave a trail of desire in their (and your) wake. Here, our favourite cold-weather scents that’ll turn heads and lift chilly spirits at once.

If you could bottle the scent of warmth on a cold winter day, it would inevitable be LUSH’s Cardamom Coffee perfume. Bursting with sweet and spicy cardamom, this enticing scent envelopes and warms with oudh oil and olive leaf, while rose oil brings about a freshness to the scent. For an equally captivating yet entirely unique fragrance, Jo Malone Orris and Sandalwood Cologne Intense blends polarizing notes for an irresistible winter scent. Creamy and rich sandalwood, musk, orris and amber bring depth and evoke sensuality, while violet and geranium notes play up a brighter quality.

When it comes to winter perfect scents, vanilla scores top marks and AERIN’s Tangier Vanille is a sumptuous, delectable and sophisticated ode to the classic note. Luxe Madagascan Vanilla is softened with notes of Bulgarian rose and livened up with Italian bergamot, while rich amber, sandalwood and musk make this fragrance compellingly enchanting. For a deeper, smokier and entirely enticing scent, Diptyque Vetyverio introduces their newer rendition with an Eau De Parfum. Featuring Haitian vetiver, this smoky, woody and heavy note plays perfectly with bright notes of juicy mandarin, citrusy grapefruit and feminine Turkish rose.

For a modern yet historic take on vetiver-forward fragrance, Penhaligon’s new Marlybone Wood finds inspiration from its namesake neighbourhood in West London (which also happens to be home to Sherlock Holmes). Charismatic, elegant and heady, notes of amber, patchouli, sandalwood and cedar are brightened with grapefruit and make this a perfect and addictive winter scent. If there was a spirit to represent winter, it would surely be whiskey. Indie fragrance house Commodity’s Whiskey encapsulates this quality, and boasts notes of bergamot, eucalyptus, lavender, sage and ivy for a moody, intense and perfect for those dark winter months.
