MEET KATE OWEN...
Meet Australian artist Kate Owen, who has an extensive background in fashion. The unique setting of the rural Northern NSW home where she lives with her husband and two boys is where she draws her creativity and inspiration from, her works a subconscious flow of her love for this ethereal space. Finding sanctuary in her studio, Kate paints beautiful, vibrant, and fluid interpretations of her surrounds.
"The outcome is never apparent from the start, the painting takes on a life of it’s own as I work and dictates a certain path."
"Painting gives me freedom from daily routines and expectations, allowing me to express myself through colour and liberate the jumble of constant ideas clamouring for attention in my mind." - Kate Owen
Kate uses acrylic paints to create her abstract style, but what makes her work truly unique is her method of scribbling with graphite oil sticks to scratch back through layers of paint. She says that abstraction serves as her own form of mini-rebellion against her perfectionist nature.
Through her artwork, Kate wants to lift and heighten people’s moods and experience of the world around them.
