FORGET YOUR HOME. FIRST, SPRING CLEAN YOURSELF! 10 TIPS TO CLEAR THE MIND AS WE HEAD INTO SUMMER

Whilst the weather is still playing havoc with our wardrobes, there’s no getting past the fact that summer is on the way and not before time. Whilst we remove jumpers to throw on lighter jackets, feel the sun on our faces and take our first sips of a summer spritz, it’s not just in the outdoors that a breath of fresh air is necessary...

Before you roll up your sleeves for a massive Spring clean of your home (though, now is definitely the time), take a closer look on the inside of your mind and general wellbeing. It’s time to acknowledge the dust bunnies that have built up in our hearts and minds and give our sense of wellbeing a deep clean too.

We’re looking to put our best self forward for the busy months to come so are looking to shave a little of the build up from not just our waistlines (xxx much…!) but our daily routines, diets and environment.

Here’s a bunch of ideas to put a broom through your mind, body and soul and breathe anew ahead of the pointy end of the year #letsdothis

ONE | BEAUTY REGIME

Nothing says spring more than a fresh do, so top up your cut and/or colour, stat! Book in a facial or pamper yourself with a mini day spa at home for a deep clean and exfoliation all over your body. Not enough time? Head home after work, put in a hair treatment, paint your nails and pop on a movie to let it all soak in.

TWO | WARDROBE

It's time to do an edit and notice what you’re already reaching for and what shape it’s in - wash, dry clean, iron, mend, pass on or replace it.

THREE | MAKEUP

Seriously, take a closer look inside your makeup bag. Uh huh…

Empty, cull, clean and wash your brushes on the weekend, leaving them in the spring sun to dry.

FOUR | DIET

We don’t mean a crash elimination or complete overhaul, simply a tweaking of meal planning towards lighter, healthier choices for lunches, dinners and our favourite meal of the day, breakfast! Switch in a smoothie or take cues from your local cafe and work up a new spring menu of make-ahead options to add to your morning rotation to start the day right.

FIVE | BEDROOM

Each day starts and finishes here so even if you can only manage one room to spring clean, make it your bedroom so you rest well and re-emerge with (a) spring in your step!

SIX | SLEEP

Half an hour may be all it takes to make a marked improvement to your sleep routine. Make the effort to get off the sofa and get to bed by 10pm at the latest and commit to getting up at 6am for the optimum quality sleep cycle.

SEVEN | EXERCISE

Actually, forget your car every now and then and get your steps up. Walk to a coffee meeting or add yoga to your weekly schedule and get outside if you can to exercise for double the health benefits - mental and physical. Always use the steps and aim for at least 30 minutes a day in nature to nurture your wellbeing.

EIGHT | CAR

The vehicle that carries you through life can become a bit of a tip over time. Time to ditch the detritus that has collected over winter and order a wash and vac inside and out for a brand new feel to your ride.

NINE | MIND

What are you working towards right now? How are you broadening your mind? Take stock of your Netflix binge situation, social media, podcasts and pile of books next to your bed to clear the junk and make way for healthy mind food.

TEN | FRIENDSHIPS

Enough with the hibernating! Grab your diary and book in cocktails or a bunch of brunches with friends to take your new hairstyle, wardrobe and car for a spin into Spring!
