EXPLORING ELIZABETH BAY (AND LANKELLY PLACE)
Heard of Elizabeth Bay? Nestled right next to Rushcutters Bay, this area really is worth a stroll through. With markets on every Saturday morning and a buzzing evening crowd (with PLENTY of trendy bars to choose from) - you'll be making it a regular weekend destination.
If you're not local to the area, you might not be familiar with the charm and atmosphere Elizabeth Bay has to offer. Situated right near Kings Cross, Darlinghurst and Potts Point - there really is an eclectic mix of people and places like no other.
A place very close to our hearts here at TLSE is Lankelly Place. If you're not familiar, we're sure this spot will find a special place in your heart as well. From cafés to wine bars, you could easily spend all day in this little laneway. So, if you're looking for a tasty coffee to sip on, or a wood-fired pizza to sink your teeth into, our Potts Point x Content Writer, Britt is here to take you through her top places (and menu must-tries).
Room Ten
To say this isn't a daily stop on my morning route would be a lie - but with coffee like this, I have absolutely no shame in it. From coffees, to freshly made croissants, all the way to Room Ten's very own cold brew - trying to pick just one thing off the menu is never easy. If you're in the mood for something on the sweeter side, you can't go wrong with the Organic Muesli, or my personal favourite - the Bingo. This peanut butter, banana and honey toast is topped with cinnamon and flaked almonds - and to say it is mouthwatering really is an understatement. If you were craving something a little more savoury - the Breakfast Ham Pane or "The Deb" are definitely must-tries. With plenty of lunch options as well, there's something for everyone.
If you do happen to live locally or frequent the area regularly, it's definitely worth grabbing one of the punch cards when you're ordering - you can get your hands on a free coffee after just 6 visits!
Piña
Speaking of cafés, this little spot is situated right opposite Room Ten. Open til 4PM, this is a great spot for those arvo coffees and later lunches. Deciding between grabbing your brekkie from Piña or Room Ten is likely to be the hardest choice you'll make all day (or even week), but either way - you will not be disappointed, With several breakfast bowls, toasts, salads, sandwiches and so on to choose from, the entire menu has been carefully curated to create delicious and considered dishes.
If you're a meat-eater, the Meatball Sandwich and the Chicken Sandwich definitely have to be up there when it comes to top picks. Served warm with fresh ingredients, these will probably be some of the best sandwiches you'll ever have. If you're looking for a veggie-based option, the Cauliflower Salad is a light and fresh option that'll hit the spot. If you're going in on a weekend, a great option to skip the table wait time is by grabbing takeaway and strolling down to Elizabeth Point and finding a nice spot on the grass.
Dear Sainte Éloise
This little wine-bar-meets-restaurant is situated right next to Piña, and is open up until midnight. With a refined selection of wines to choose from, as well as delicious main and side dishes, this spot gives new meaning to the term 'charming'. If you're a wine connoisseur yourself, stroll in and give the 'mystery wine' option a go. When you order the mystery wine (red or white depending on what you prefer), you can have one guess at picking the correct grape and region. If you get it right, they'll give you the glass for free - I mean, how could you say no?
So, next time you're on the hunt for a little after-dinner spot to have a glass of wine (or two), give Dear Sainte Éloise a visit.
Pizza Boccone
If you're a fan of wood-fired pizza and handmade pasta - I may have just found you one of your new favourite dinner spots. All the pasta and dough is made in-house, with flour from Italy and fresh ingredients - it's a great dining spot to take the family. The Gamberi has to be one of our number one picks for this spot, topped with prawn pomodoro, zucchini, chilli and fresh mozzarella - need I say more?
With Elizabeth Bay just a short stroll away, this is a great spot to grab some takeaway pizza and head down for a picnic on a nice evening.
So, whether you live locally or not, Lankelly Place should be at the top of your list either way!
