DAVID JONES REVEALS NEW AW22 CAMPAIGN, WONDERWORLD
Following two years of closed borders and isolation due to the pandemic, today the Australian international borders have finally reopened. It is no secret that Australians love to travel abroad and, while the opportunity to enjoy experiences on our home shores has been appreciated by many, we have craved to spread our wings and travel beyond our oceans once again. David Jones new Wonderworld campaign represents optimism for a novel and exciting journey ahead filled with new possibilities and big dreams.
The new season collection taps into the nation's appetite for the new and far-flung, interpreting Charles Lloyd Jones’ vision, the grandson of David Jones, of bringing the best of the globe to Australian shores like never before. The world is a wonderful place, and David Jones is ready to explore it.
Photographed by renowned photographer Nicole Bentley, the David Jones AW22 Wonderworld campaign features Australian models Charlee Fraser and Nathan McGuire, embarking on a fantastic voyage of dreaming big and experiencing the wide world once again.
David Jones Chief Marketing Officer, James Holloman, talks to the launch; “David Jones has long celebrated the beauty the world has to offer, bringing treasures and trends home to share with our discerning Australian customers. We look forward to welcoming our customers back in store and online to explore the David Jones ‘Wonderworld’ campaign and take the journey with us to rediscover all the world has to offer,” said James.
The season will be brought to life next month when the Gala Runway presented by David Jonesofficially opens the 2022 PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival. Held at the iconic Queen Victoria Market celebrating the international flavour of the season, the runway will showcase best of local and international fashion.
Bridget Veals, David Jones General Manager of Womenswear and Accessories said; ‘I am thrilled to see a hand-picked curation of luxury styles from across the globe make their debut on the runway and into David Jones this season. Over 25 new brands will be joining our designer portfolio including Khaite, Halston, Tom Ford, Rohe, aim’n, Marc Jacobs, Maison Essentiele, L’Idee, Agent Provocateur and upcoming Melbourne brand Clea which has been making waves already.”
Uplifting colour palettes, garden partywear, and back to business but with more casual looks are set to set the tone in womenswear this season. Camilla and Marc, Aje, Anna Quan, Acler and Rebecca Vallance will embrace these styles from relaxed blazers, oversized shirts and classic tailoring to floral prints, and chic cutaway dresses still proving popular.
Menswear this season focuses similarly on nostalgic styles, work leisure outfits and mood-lifting tones with statement knits, loose trousers and tunic shirts. The latest designs from newcomers Commas, Sandro, Replay, Axel Arigato and Banana Republic provide the perfect looks for men to embrace in AW22, particularly as we come into the colder months.
The Wonderworld experience will come to life across David Jones stores nationally. Exclusive to the Elizabeth Street Flagship from late February, David Jones will unveil the transformed level 8 Wonderworld Gallery nodding to the previous Art Gallery exhibition once housed at the Flagship. Set amongst the most spectacular views of Sydney, overlooking Hyde Park and poised just above the David Jones shoe floor, the gallery completely reimagines the historical David Jones executive suites to create an immersive, unique experience that transports customers on an adventure around the globe.
To launch the space, Australian fine art photographer Kate Ballis will exhibit her landscape photography series alongside an airport departure lounge-style bar for customers to enjoy. From early March through to May, David Jones will host a range of shows from some of their pillar brands including Greg Natale, Narciso Rodriguez, Bendon Lingerie, Dyson, and Maticevski.
