Wendy Rennie | Haymes Paint

@haymespaintshop

Who are you and what do you do?

Colour and Concept Manager My role is really diverse I get to be part of running a great team of colourful minded people and working with them seeing how they grow and develop in their roles and how we can grow and talk about the Hyames colours and how they can be brought to life through styling, home interiors and any other way possible, I love learning about people's colour journeys and seeing how personal and unique it can be.

I have recently studied colour psychology and loved learning more about how colour and how it goes beyond just what we see and how we need to consider this to apply it in a way that provides the most positive outcome for the space and most importantly the people who will be cohabitating in the space.

How did the business come about?

Haymes Paint was established in 1935, by Henry Haymes who opened the Haymes manufacturing plant in Ballarat under his fathers business name. Since then, the family-owned business has built their phenomenal reputation with quality products, exceptional customer service and an unwavering commitment to support for local, independently owned businesses

Haymes Paint has maintained its head office and manufacturing in Ballarat where it all began. This decision has been instrumental in providing employment and growth to the region and has allowed the business to maintain its local identity.

To trust my gut and know that if you feel something is right, then you need to push to get it across the line, as your instinct is usually correct.

What is your favourite part of your day to day?

Putting together colour combinations and thinking about colour and design materials.

What was an unexpected joy of creating your business?

The joy of my role has been seeing colour grow in the business from when I began as a team of one to a team that now does colour forecasting, colour consultancy, events and generally spreading the word about the great colours we make and offer at Haymes and developing brand new ones.

Leave us with some words of wisdom?

Always use a colour that you love in your home. White is not the answer, you need colour to make you feel alive!
