A MINDFUL CYBER MONDAY
So, you've heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday - but what do these major shopping events actually mean for consumers? Look, we love a sale as much as the next gal, but it's important to be mindful of how and what you are actually consuming. As much as we'd love to indulge all of our online shopping dreams - fast fashion has become an increasingly prominent issue within our society, and Black Friday and Cyber Monday are a part of this problem.
Don't get us wrong, there is nothing wrong with finally snapping up that jacket you've had your eye on for a while for a great price (we're right there with you) - but getting swept up in the hysteria ultimately just contributes to a bigger issue.
Here at TLSE, we are super passionate about making changes to work toward a more sustainable way of living, and always try to be mindful of mass consumption and waste - and we're here to help you too. It's easy to think the purchase process starts with a retail store and ends with you taking home a cute new shirt - but that's not exactly accurate. Despite being the final stage of the consumption cycle, buying something can have a huge knock-on effect, and can inadvertently reinforce unethical practices like exploitation of workers. Knowing what kind of corporations you're supporting is a great way to join the fight against behaviours like these - so the best place to start is by educating yourself.
BUT - that's not to say you can't enjoy a good sale without being mindful. So, if you've had your eye on a certain something or simply trying to snag a nice Chrissy present for a good deal - we've got the inside scoop on a couple of brands we love that are doing some awesome deals.
If you're based in Melbourne - this one's for you. Whether you've been ballin' on a budget or simply looking for an excuse to catch up with friends, iPantry is doing $5 pizzas from A25 and Woodstock Pizzicheria (we know, right?). But you'll want to get in quick - it's only from 7AM until sold out!
If you're an avid reader of our blog, you'd know that we swear by Bondi Sands - and love the people who work there even more. After chatting to a couple of the girls from Bondi Sands a couple of weeks ago, we really couldn't recommend the brand enough. With 50% off selected bundles on Friday 27th and 40% off site-wide Monday 30th, you can skip the UV and get yourself a healthy tan for a total bargain.
David Jones is no stranger to sales, but with their massive selection of brands and product categories, this might be the perfect op to snap up those Christmas presents you've had your eye on without breaking the bank.
What's better than crawling into a freshly made bed after a long day? Crawling into a freshly made bed with sheets that are ethically sourced and produced. Made from 100% flax linen, the team at BedThreads are committed to creating sustainable products, so you can treat yourself off to 15% off new bedsheets while being mindful of your carbon footprint at the same time.
Speaking of sustainability... ! If you haven't heard of Cloth&Co., you're seriously missing out. Not only are the products ethically produced, but they are also absolutely gorgeous. If you've been searching high and low for that comfy couch set - look no further with their 30% off Black Friday sale.
So, skip the mass shopping this year, and remember to be mindful of what your spending is actually going toward.
