5 SHOWS WE'RE STREAMING TO GET US THROUGH LOCKDOWN
1. PHYSICAL
The Apple TV+ series, Physical, created by playwright Annie Weisman, delves into a window of history, when making people hate their body became a thriving pillar of American commerce. Put simply, Physical is a strikingly beautiful show about ugly things: self-hatred, mental illness, rampant capitalism and politics. Rose Byrne plays Shelia, a frustrated housewife with an eating disorder who is overcome by her insecurities and self-loathing. The story shines a light on Sheila's discovery of aerobics and its life altering effect in her life – we're totally hooked.
2. VIRGIN RIVER - SEASON 3
Those of us who love Virgin River, now in its third season, REALLY love it! Despite tackling some pretty serious and confronting issues, this show is exceptionally easy to watch. Each season we become more and more invested In the characters and their relatable, real-life struggles. The love story between Mel, a nurse who moves to the small town of Virgin River for a fresh start, and Jack, who she meets while there, is particularly gripping. And of course, it doesn't go unnoticed that Jack is totally swoon worthy!
3. SEX/LIFE
Perhaps the most talked about series at the moment due to 'that' visual scene in episode three, Sex/Life certainly has captured our attention. The story? Billie apparently has it all: a gorgeous husband, a sprawling Connecticut mansion and two beautiful children. The problem? Her gorgeous husband won’t sleep with her, and Billie’s sexual frustration is taking over her life, as is her obsession with her ex boyfriend. This extremely raunchy Netflix series is based on a bestselling and anonymous memoir about a woman in the exact same position. All we can say is, brace yourself!
4. THE DURELLS - SEASON 3
The Durrells is based upon Gerald Durrell’s classic trilogy of Corfu memoirs including the much loved My Family and Other Animals. Set in 1935, this timeless drama is full of warmth, humour and fun - and some pretty breathtaking visual scenes! The madcap adventures of an eccentric British family in 1930s Corfu makes great escapist entertainment - we can't get enough!
5. GOSSIP GIRL
Gossip Girl makes a triumphant return to our screens, with a brand new cast and an exciting and fresh set of rich kid antics to invest in. The best news about this reboot, though, is that the original writer Josh Safran is returning. Safran was the writer who drove some pretty thrilling storylines in the original series, Serena thinking she had murdered someone! Chuck and Blair in the limousine! Nate and the Duchess! This reboot is set to be just as good!
